Day 5: A real "good morning" today
Villegusien-le-Lac, France
71640 Dracy-le-Fort, France

A real good morning today: the sun is well and truly here 🌞
We clearly move from shadow into light. From convict mode to blessed mode 😌
A trouble‑free start. Latecomers remain… latecomers — you don’t change a winning team 😉
The bikes are clean, the panniers have dried, morale is sky‑high ✅
We thought we’d follow the canal one last time, just to spin the legs and, above all, to say goodbye to our friend the heron
This tall fellow has been accompanying us along the banks for three days now… the fishing must be good.
But we leave him fairly quickly to tackle the Burgundy hills ⛰️
It’s rhythmic, playful, and we’re having a blast
Technical stop 🔧 — and a moment for « mangiare » 😋
We fine‑tune the bikes and rebalance the loads to ease our ageing bodies — they still have quite a few kilometres ahead of them.
Chi va piano… 😅
Andiamo… Crossing Dijon is rather uninspiring 🙄
But it had to be done.
And we knew it: just after that comes the playground 🎢
Fixin, Gevrey, Vosne, Chambolle, Vougeot, Corton…
We — the Fantastic Four — right in the heart of one of the greatest vineyards in the world 🍷🍇
Sunshine, vine‑covered slopes, light everywhere…
Ask four thirsty enthusiasts if they feel like tasting — they’ll tell you that today, they’d rather be cycling 🚴♂️😄
Moving from awe to breathlessness in just a few minutes,
putting images to appellations,
villages to bottle labels 🍾
After Beaune, it’s time for the great whites :
Santenay, Meursault, Puligny, Chassagne and the Bâtards‑Montrachet…
a few more stunning hills, punctuated by playful accelerations, good spirits and clean fatigue.
This time, no dreams of baths or showers…
👉 Bring on the hotel bar 🍻😄
