Good evening everyone,
I have just received the distinguished honor of being chosen to be part of the small group of administrators and to write this message to you.
I havenât been cycling over the past three weeks, but like all of you, I have been glued to my phone following every twist and turn of our mutual friendsâ cycling adventure.
For me, this adventure had a particularly special meaning⊠Philippe and Vincent are childhood friends, and they know my personal journey: that of a mother whose son, RaphaĂ«l, was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent 11 years of treatment, from the age of 9 to 20, until modern medicine could do no more for him. No more curative treatment⊠And by âmodern medicine,â please beware- spoiler alert- that medical advances rarely benefit children.
In 2016, during RaphaĂ«lâs first relapse, I realised with dismay and frustration that, curling cancer was making progress, except for children.
In 2017, we founded KickCancer as a family, with the mission of funding research and advocating for patients, in order to cure every child with cancer.
Philippe, Vincent, and all the members of this adventure cycled to raise funds for KickCancer.
And this is where I want to thank each and every one of you for your generosity.
â€ïžâđ„ Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart â€ïžâđ„
đ Thank you also, of course, to all the cyclists đ, and thank you to Vincent for sharing, on a particularly difficult day for your team, that you did not want to complain, because you were thinking of all the children with cancer⊠and also of my son. That touched me deeply â€ïžâđ©č.
The BrusselsâSaint-Tropez cycling challenge was a daily feat, but above all a joyful and united adventure â exactly the ingredients needed to âkickâ cancer and cure every child.
Thank you all, sending love and hugs to everyone, and good evening!
